Memorial Day: Honoring Those Who Died in Military Service

military graves with flags

Memorial Day is one of the United States’ most moving holidays. It’s a day to remember and honor those who have lost their lives in military service. Each year, Boy and Girls Scouts across the county converge on the graveyards and cemeteries to place a miniature US Flag on the tombstones and grave markers of those who served in the military.

And each year, when the bugler plays taps, I recall all the families that have served and died to protect America. I also think about the friends and acquaintances who have gone off to wars or security actions to do what America asks them.

Let us reflect on those lost in service through historical battles, including the wars and more recent conflicts on this national holiday. May they be honored forever.
